The Explorer is the debut blend from ADVentura, the brand that Swiss sommelier Marcel Knobel and Henderson Ventura of Tabacalera William Ventura launched in 2016 to follow the fictional tale of two 15th century explorers on a quest to discover the unknown pleasures of the world. Handmade at Tabacalera William Ventura in the Dominican Republic, The Explorer features an Ecuadorian Habano wrapper over an Ecuadorian Sumatra binder and a filler blend of Dominican and Ecuadorian tobaccos that have been aged between five and seven years before rolling, giving the cigar a depth and maturity that is immediately noticeable from the first draw.

Right out of the gate, the Mexican wrapper delivers a burst of dark chocolate and roasted cashew, with spice, leather, and cedar weaving through a medium-bodied profile that stays engaging from start to finish. The Ecuadorian filler brings a natural woody sweetness that balances the spice beautifully, and the generous 6x56 Gran Toro format gives the blend the room it needs to fully open up through a long, satisfying smoke.
