The King Is Dead took over five years to blend, and the result is one of the most unique and sophisticated Dominican puros on the boutique cigar market. It features a vintage 2008 Dominican Negrito wrapper over a Dominican Corojo binder and a carefully layered filler blend of Dominican Corojo Ligero, Dominican Negrito Viso, and HVA 20/20 tobaccos, all rolled at Tabacalera William Ventura in the Dominican Republic. Cigar Aficionado rated it 93 points, calling it an "uncommon" cigar, which is exactly what it is. 

Initial notes of dark chocolate, cedar, and black pepper create a robust opening, before the profile settles into a moderate spice balanced by a milk chocolate sweetness that carries through to the final third. Hints of maple sweetness permeate the final two thirds, rounding out a blend that is bold but never harsh and complex without ever feeling overworked.
