Pirate Kake is a Latakia lover’s treasure chest. Cornell & Diehl packs about 75 percent Latakia into the blend and fills out the rest with Turkish Orientals and Burley. The mix is pressed into a dense cake and broken into chunks that rub out in seconds. There’s no topping, just a lot of smoke and enough supporting leaf to keep things smooth.

Expect deep campfire smoke, leather, and a touch of sweetness from the first match. The Orientals add a dry, aromatic spice, and the Burley gives it a nutty body that cools the burn and stops the Latakia from turning harsh.
