Storage: RH 68-71% 26C
Upon opening the humidor, the wrapper around the head had 2 cracks running down the stogie for half an inch. When reaching the final third, the cig went out. So perhaps the RH was too humid.
Wrapper: Ecuadorian Connecticut-Shade (grown on Don José “Pepin” Perdomo’s farm in Estelí, Nicaragua)
Binder: Dominican Republic (Dominican-grown Piloto Cubano)
Filler: 100% Nicaraguan Havana-seed tobaccos from Don Pepin Perdomo’s farms (Estelí region)
Wrapper Texture: Smooth, silky Connecticut-Shade leaf with very faint veins and slight tooth, exhibiting light cocoa tones.
Draw & Burn:
Draw: Generally ideal—slightly open but allowing for enough resistance to draw thick, creamy smoke.
Burn: Straight, producing a fine gray ash.
Overall Strength: Medium-bodied
First Third (0–2 inches)
Primary Notes:
Creamy Sweetness: A gentle vanilla-cream character on the initial puffs.
Toasted Almond / Light Nuts: Hints of marcona almond with a touch of baked dough.
Subtle Cedar: Undertones of cedar with mild honeyed sweetness.
Mouthfeel: Smooth and velvety, with no harshness.
Second Third (Mid-Cigar)
Primary Notes:
Nutmeg Spice: A transition toward light baking spice and nutmeg on the retrohale.
Coffee Biscuit: Biscuit-like cookie flavors mixed with a mild espresso undertone.
Baked Bread Crust: Slight “doughy” note reminiscent of fresh-baked bread.
Mouthfeel: Richer texture; smoke thickens slightly while retaining cream.
Final Third (Last Inch)
Primary Notes:
Black Pepper Edge: A gentle pepper spice emerges on the finish—still smooth, but with more bite.
Cocoa / Dark Chocolate: A restrained cocoa note sweetens the finish.
Earthy Undertones: Light dried-leaf earthiness balances the sweetness and spice.
Mouthfeel: Slightly drier, with warming pepper notes on the retrohale, but still well-balanced.
Throughout, sweetness and cream serve as a through-line, while spice and earth build gradually.
