Rattray's Stirling Flake 50g
Description
Rattray’s traces its roots to the tobacco shop Charles Rattray opened in Perth, Scotland in 1903, and Stirling Flake carries on that tradition of strong, honest pipe tobacco. It’s made with equal parts air-cured Burley, flue-cured Virginia, and dark-fired Kentucky. The leaf is pressed and sliced into flakes with no casing or topping. Rattray’s describes it as a blend for experienced smokers who want the full power of a traditional flake, and it lives up to that.
The Virginia brings natural sweetness, the Burley adds a nutty, cocoa-like depth, and the dark-fired Kentucky gives it a smoky, earthy backbone and a solid nicotine kick. Fold and stuff the flakes for a long, slow smoke, or rub them out for an easier light. It burns cool and steady when packed well. This is not a casual morning bowl. Save it for after a big meal, or for when you want a pipe that really holds your attention.
